What do I need, to apply for a VOSA testing
station.

Firstly, you need to apply in writing to VOSA with a
form VT1 filled out with the relevant information
required. Please click here to download the
PDF form now.

Either proof of ownership or proof of exclusive use;

• Either planning permission or evidence of established use;
• A site plan showing the location of testing premises;
• A fully dimensioned drawing of the test bay(s);
• A copy of the Company House Record of Appointments;
• A copy of the partnership agreement;
• Financial reference for the entity;
• Two character references for each AEP;
• Any additional separate personal declaration of non conviction;

VOSA will then visit the site and view the premises and give approval in principle and issue a VTS number. This is a unique number and no one else will be issued with the same number.

Once the equipment is installed and the sign, floor marking and certification is in place, VOSA will come and inspect the premises to make sure it complies with the current legislation.

When this is done, your computer is ordered with Siemans and delivered within 5 working days. Once this is completed you are able to notify VOSA and begin testing.

Q.How long does the process take to become a vehicle testing station.
A. On the whole, the process takes no longer than 3 months.

Q.How do inground lifts benefit my business over 2 post lifts.
A.
Inground lifts are more expensive to purchase and install at your premises. For example, if you had a workshop with an area of 10m you would be able to fit comfortabally 3 inground lifts compared to only 2 post lifts. At an average labour rate of £50.00 per hour would generate over a typical year £96,000.00 of additional turnover for your business.
